Thursday is supposed to be my day off from bulb work, but this time of year that often doesn’t happen with bulbs to unpot and orders to pack and send.  I was determined to do something, so I got my three dogs and off we went to the beach nearby.  I am very fortunate in living in a beautiful area with trails and beaches where I can go early in the day and hardly ever see anyone.  One of my dogs is a puppy and hasn’t learned her manners yet, and all are very high energy and need to run free.  It was foggy this morning, but still very beautiful and we took a lovely trail that winds down a headland to a cove, then walked south on the beach for a couple of miles, not encountering anyone.  The dogs were in heaven, playing with crab legs, chasing each other, and trying to chase the long strings of brown pelicans flying along the surf line.  Fat chance of that!  Home all wet and sandy, and now my attention is to packing bulbs for Canada, Germany and Japan.  They will be inspected by the Department of Agriculture on Monday, then will be on their way.
